WOMEN AND ADDICTION

Unfortunately, women are especially vulnerable to battling an addiction. Addiction doesn’t discriminate- any woman who abuses alcohol and other drugs can develop an increase in tolerance, dependence, addiction, and associated consequences.

Overall, addiction can lead to other destructive behaviors. Job loss. Drinking and driving. Relationship loss. Excessive drinking while responsible for dependent children, comprising their safety. Increased likelihood to engage in unprotected sex, which can lead to unplanned pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases (STD’s). Additionally, women with addiction problems are at higher risk for sexual assault.

HOW A WOMEN’S DRUG REHAB CAN HELP

Addiction is complicated, but recovery is always possible. Women need a quality drug rehab program that teaches individuals about addiction, resisting urges, identifying triggers, healing traumas, preventing relapse, and maintaining lifelong sobriety. After successful residential treatment, you may never return to destructive alcohol and other drug abuse.

Women needing drug rehab are best matched with facilities with a spectrum of tools for helping you reach your long-term goal. A combination of these resources puts you on the track for lasting recovery.

Upon entering rehab, most undergo detox before beginning an addiction treatment program. Detox can be uncomfortable as harmful toxins leave the body. Of course, medical professionals are on-site 24/7 at Santé to help clients manage and overcome symptoms.

It’s important to understand that attempting self-detox is almost always unsuccessful. Therefore, detoxing in a reputable rehab facility with clinical and medical professional help is your best option. The safest and most effective withdrawal process is to undergo detox while medical staff is present.

A quality drug rehab program provides individualized treatment plans. At Santé, we invest in quality assessments, engage clients in individual and group therapies, and create unique assignments while utilizing evidence-based programs. Your customized treatment plan meets each client’s needs based on their history with addiction, mental health, trauma, compulsive behaviors, treatment, family systems, and more. These individualized treatment plans align with the goal of long-term recovery and relapse prevention.

During rehab, it’s crucial to undergo therapy with expert, licensed therapists. At Santé, we know that our clients are most likely to achieve long-term recovery when they work collaboratively with their treatment to get to the issues underneath the presenting addiction and behaviors. Many women have trauma-related issues that trigger addictive behaviors. Identifying and working towards trauma resolution is integral to achieving life-long recovery. Otherwise, relapse is more likely.

Women’s Drug Rehab Center

Seeking out treatment for addiction is extremely difficult. Fear and denial may keep women from seeking the help they need alongside other women at a drug rehab center. While it is fairly normal to experience some level of denial, it is important for women to realize that they have a problem and need to get help for it. Throughout Santé Center for Healing’s recovery continuum of care, clients can get an individualized treatment plan and start their journey of long-term recovery.

What Happens in a Women’s Drug Rehab Center?

While each and every woman has a unique rehab experience, there are a few common therapies and treatments that clients will discover across different programs. Women can typically choose between a residential or an intensive outpatient program. In residential programming, women live on campus and get intensive, around-the-clock treatment. Women often start this kind of treatment directly after detox before they transition into an outpatient program.

Sometimes, women need more flexibility or are assessed as needing a lower level of care and therapeutic intervention. In these cases, an intensive outpatient program offers an alternative. Outpatient programs require clients to attend regular sessions throughout the week, but the individual can return home at night.

Within a residential or intensive outpatient level of care, some facilities have set curriculum within a fixed and static program. Santé Center for Healing implements individualization, with different treatment plans as unique as each client. The amount of time someone spends in treatment depends entirely on whether they are (1) doing the work and (2) getting better.

In an individualized program like Santé’s, clients can start at different points during the program. If someone does not need detox, they could begin treatment in a residential, intensive outpatient, or transitional living program. The amount of time women spend in each level of care varies.

After an initial evaluation, many women begin with detox. This phase takes anywhere from 4 to 10 days. During detox, women receive medical supervision and care as their bodies begin processing the chemicals out of their system.

Next, women will generally enter the residential portion. This stage lasts for 45 to 65 days for most women. In some cases, women will stay over 100 days. A client’s treatment plan and length of stay hinges entirely on the individual’s situation.

Following a residential program, some women transition into an intensive outpatient program. This level of care extends significant clinical intervention for four months. In addition, some women also choose to take part in a transitional living program that lasts for three months to two years, depending on their recovery and their living arrangements and needs.

Each woman Santé Center for Healing treats is unique; there is no single path through treatment that everyone has to follow. Long-term recovery is a unique journey, and support like Santé Center for Healing is crucial to achieving it.

Why Is a Gender-Specific Program Useful?

For decades, there was a one-size-fits-all approach to addiction treatment. Now, researchers know that people experience addictions differently and need customized interventions to move from life in active addiction to life in recovery.

Santé Center for Healing offers addiction, mental health, trauma, problematic sexual behavior, and co-occurring disordered eating support through programs delivered within individual, group, or family therapy program settings.

Santé Center for Healing’s goal? Long-term recovery. Since each and every individual experiences addiction and associated traumas differently, the treatment options need to be diverse and individualized.

At Santé, women can receive a variety of behavioral health and mental health services, potentially including but not limited to: EMDR, Experiential Therapy, Family Therapy, Group Therapy, Individual Counseling, Neurofeedback, Psychodrama, Relapse Prevention, Ropes, Y12SR, and 12-step meetings. Group settings are encouraging, relatable, and challenging. Clients share feedback and experiences that their peers can immediately relate to as they each journey towards long-term recovery.
