Whitney Russell MS, LPC-S, CEDS-S, EMDR Trained
Hello there! I’m Whitney and I’m the owner and founder of Brave Haven Counseling. I am so glad you have taken some of your valuable time to find a therapist. It is such a courageous endeavor to ask for help and I am here to help you along your journey. I want to take a moment to let you know a little bit about myself so that we can start the process of getting to know one another.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor and Certified Eating Disorder Specialist-Supervisor. I earned my Bachelors in Psychology from Austin College in Sherman, Texas and my Masters in Counseling Psychology from the University of North Texas. I began my counseling career at the Dallas County Juvenile Detention Center working at a rehabilitative residential treatment center with struggling teens. From there I began my journey as an expert in the field of eating disorders. My experience in this area ranges from being a primary therapist at a partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient setting at the Renfrew Center of Texas to being the Regional Director for Center For Discovery where I have been overseeing the clinical and daily operations of several of our treatment centers.
My clinical experience has allowed me to work with people of all ages, races, genders, socioeconomic statuses, body sizes, and sexual orientations at all levels of care. Through this work I have gained immense compassion and love for the human experience. My favorite part about being a therapist is establishing relationships with my clients where I am able to help them to see what they have been missing about themselves all along- that they are powerful beings worthy of great love, belonging, and connection.
I am also a wife. Mother of 4 wonderfully energetic children. Enneagram 1. And lover of plants, nutella, thrift stores, and collecting books. I cant wait to have the opportunity to get to know you better and walk alongside you in your journey!
