Are you preoccupied with thoughts about food and exercise? Do you feel shame when you don’t “measure up” to certain expectations? Are you your own worst critic? I am passionate about helping people who are struggling with body-image issues and low self-esteem. I bring an open heart and a gentle, warm presence to the therapy relationship. Through acceptance and compassion, I will help you discover new ways to relate to yourself and your body.
In addition to working with body-image and self-esteem related issues, I also specialize in grief, loss, and trauma. While grief is a part of the human experience, it’s not a topic many feel comfortable talking about. I know firsthand how painful grief can be, and that it can provide rich opportunities for growth. Working with grief led me to become trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy, which is an evidence-based treatment for trauma. Even if you are not seeking therapy for trauma, elements of EMDR can be used to access your inner resources, allowing you to better navigate the challenges you face.
Other issues I work with include relationship and family conflict, unmanageable stress, anxiety, and depression, and life transitions. While I may not have all the answers, I will offer you a supportive, outside perspective grounded in current research. My aim is to help you find compassion, authenticity, resilience, and well-being within yourself.
