Shanaci Cook, M.A., LPC
Background and Experience
Shanaci works with adolescents, adults, couples, and families. Through her work at the Children’s Advocacy Center of Collin County and Child & Family Guidance Center of Texoma, Shanaci gained experience in working with clients from a variety of backgrounds such as, victims of trauma, at risk youth, child abuse, substance use disorder, depression, anxiety, crisis counseling, and relationship issues. Shanaci also enjoys working with premarital and married couples, parenting issues, self-harm and unhealthy coping skills, and other mental health disorders. Christian counseling available upon request.
Personal Statement
I have always had a passion for helping people to work through the struggles they face in life. It takes courage to go through counseling and face what you are going through, and I am here to walk alongside you and to help provide the tools to do so. My goal is to create a safe and empathetic environment for healing by utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to establish realistic goals for effective change.
Education and Training
Shanaci graduated with her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, CO. She later graduated from Amberton University in Garland, TX with a Master of Arts in Professional Counseling. Shanaci gained her clinical hours at the Children’s Advocacy Center of Collin County and at Child & Family Guidance Center of Texoma by providing therapy for children, youth, adults, and groups.
