Detailed Information

Meredith Hrebenak, MS, LPC, NCC

Progressive Counseling Services

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a National Certified Counselor (NCC). I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Family Studies from Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tennessee and my Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of North Georgia in Dahlonega, Georgia. I am a current member of the Licensed Professional Counselors Association of Georgia and the American Counseling Association.

I previously spent four years working with survivors of domestic violence at a residential shelter. I have experience counseling adolescents and adults with a variety of issues and concerns such as relationship issues, self-esteem issues, weight loss, domestic violence and dating violence, sexual abuse and sexual assault, PTSD, anger management, depression, anxiety, spiritual and religious concerns, post-traumatic stress disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, stress management, LGBTQIA+ concerns, social justice concenrs, grief, and issues relating to being adopted. I welcome clients from all cultures, religions, and lifestyles.

Clients have said that they find me calming, easy to talk to, and authentic. I am a culturally sensitive and LGBTQIA+ affirming therapist, and my therapy style is influenced by cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), positive psychology, strength-based therapy, solution-focused therapy, and the feminist and existential theories. Also, when relevant, I enjoy using pop culture and “geek culture” as counseling tools.

In my personal life, I enjoy traveling, reading, going for walks, spending time with my dog and my family, and watching a little too much TV.
