Helen R. Friedman, Ph.D. Clinical Psychologist
Dr. Helen Friedman is a compassionate and interactive clinical psychologist, with 10 years of additional training after her Ph.D. and over 39 years in practice. She works with anxiety, stress, depression, grief, divorce, relationships, sexual and work issues. Specialty areas include sexual trauma, sexual compulsivity, posttraumatic stress, dissociative disorders, and gender identity issues. Trained in a variety of therapeutic modalities (family systems, psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, gestalt, etc.), she tailors her approach to the individual, couple, or family. Dr. Friedman has presented on mental health topics at national and international conferences and has made numerous appearances on television, radio, and in print (New York Times, Washington Post, Jerusalem Post, Boston Globe, USA Today, Los Angeles Times, New York Post, Psychology Today, Cosmopolitan, Woman’s Day, Mademoiselle, SELF, Redbook, YM, CosmoGIRL!, Huffington Post, Time.com, Salon, etc.). For 7 1/2 years, she hosted “PsychTalk” on KDHX Radio, for which she received the Community Partnership Award from BJC Behavioral Health Services for providing thoughtful mental health education. She has served on the Advisory Boards of “CosmoGIRL!” (a national teen magazine) and the Society for the Advancement of Sexual Health (SASH). She was presented the SASH Merit Award by Dr. Patrick Carnes in San Francisco, CA. Dr. Friedman is president of the St. Louis Psychological Association; an associate clinical professor in the Department of Community and Family Medicine, St. Louis University School of Medicine; and among the first to receive the WPATH (World Professional Association for Transgender Health) Certified Provider Certificate. Her office is centrally located, convenient to highways 40 and 170. Currently, she is doing only Telehealth and is able to work with clients in all PsyPact states (Arizona, Colorado, Delaware, Georgia, Illinois, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, Nevada, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Utah, with 15 more states in the wings). Dr. Friedman returns calls personally and will usually see you within a few days.
