D’Anna Sims, MEd, LPC
D’Anna is a Licensed Professional Counselor who enjoys working with teenagers, women and families. Her goal is to meet you where you are at in life by seeking to understand what type of change is most important to you. Her desire is to provide compassionate support in a comfortable setting where people can safely express their feelings. She has experience helping people with anxiety, depression, family conflict, grief/loss, parenting concerns, relationship issues, self-harm and trauma. She is passionate about walking with people through the grief process resulting from any type of loss.
She is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). Her approach incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Christian counseling where desired. She has a Master’s degree in Counseling and Human Development from Hardin-Simmons University and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Howard Payne University. She became a licensed professional counselor in 2011 and joined His Story in 2016. Prior to her job as a counselor, she worked as a teacher in a public school classroom, as a therapist in a hospital setting and in a support staff role at her church. D’Anna is a certified Prepare-Enrich facilitator and is a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors.
D’Anna and her husband have been married since 1998 and have two children. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, and reading.
