Danielle Adams, MS, LPC, NCC
Counselor at Flourish Counseling and Consultations
SMART Recovery Facilitator
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (TX #78222). I received my Bachelor’s Degree in English Literature with a minor in Social Sciences from the University of North Texas in 2009. I completed my Master’s Degree in 2017 at Southern Methodist University, taking courses with an emphasis in counseling individual, couples, family, groups and the LGBT community. I also am certified to be a mediator through SMU’s Dispute Resolution program.
I have experience working with people who have suffered various types of trauma, including sexual abuse, domestic violence, family violence and others; as well as, a variety of issues that present after trauma, such as anxiety, PTSD, depression and grief. While working in crisis counseling, I have experiences supporting persons who are dealing with suicidal or homicidal ideation and self-harm.
The primary counseling theory that I utilize is Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), which teaches people how their beliefs cause their emotional and behavioral responses to an event that occurs. When working with couples, I tend to pull from The Gottman Method or Imago Therapy. If you are interested in learning more about these theories and how counseling can help you in your everyday life, click on the links in blue or I would be happy to discuss them further with you. I have a passion to help and love to see people grow and evolve for the better.
In my free time, I try as often as possible to escape into an adventure, either by traveling or picking up a good book. I enjoy spending time with my family and my dog, both of which are very important elements of fulfillment and love in my life; I hope to someday offer Canine Assisted Therapy, as an option for clients, as well.
