Detailed Information

Courtney Watson, MA, LPC Intern, CHT

If you’re an adult who has complex trauma or complicated grief from childhood and nothing has worked, reach out to try something different.

You’ve managed life up to this point. You’ve been to therapy before, processed your childhood trauma, and thought ‘I’m cured’. But you’re jumpy, anxious, chronically overcompensating, and bending over backwards to keep people in your life who treat you terribly. The irritability, shame, and inadequacy are all back. You’re exhausted and can’t continue like this. Adult survivors of complex childhood trauma cycle through situations like this all the time. But it doesn’t have to continue this way.

When I work with clients who experienced childhood trauma, the first goal is to instill the truth that nothing is ‘broken’ or ‘wrong’ with them. I help to show how trauma responses are a natural body process and adaptive at the time they were created. I then use IFS, which allows us to build a safe, healthy, and supportive relationship with the parts of us that hold that trauma – things they didn’t have in the past. The work is gentle, slow, compassionate, and tender. We welcome the parts that hold trauma and sit with them. When they are ready to share their story, we listen. I also incorporate humanistic, emotion-focused, and narrative lenses.

I believe every person has the innate ability to heal, grow, and find balance – as long as the external environment is safe and supportive. I recognize that this is not possible for everyone, so we incorporate safety, support, and understanding of external constraints. I see my role as a co-collaborator in the therapy room and always include you in the process for treatment, goals, and progress. Every client is unique and deserves access to a personalized approach to therapy. I strive to show up authentically as myself with each one of you. I am an advocate for the LGBTQ+ community, racial justice, and sex workers. All are welcome and provided a safe space. Together, we can process the trauma or grief that has been pushed aside, help navigate through this rough life transition, or find compassion for yourself that has so often been difficult to access. If you’re ready for deep transformation and a supportive environment – reach out and schedule the free 30min consultation.
