Corinna Collins, Psychotherapist
Working with individuals in the area of addiction, I encourage establishing positive and strong support systems while in recovery, utilizing CBT and Motivational Interviewing approaches. Individuals in treatment for addictions also address and learn techniques for managing anger utilizing Newton Hightower’s 3 step approach to anger management. I am also trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) for Trauma.
In the area of trauma, some clients experience difficulty in managing emotions in the present. Validation Is critical for clients to grieve knowing there is no right or wrong way to do so. I have experience providing counseling for various traumatic events in the area of mass violence, survivors of homicide and traumatic brain injury patients.
I have experience working with couples in counseling and I am a Certified SYMBIS Facilitator. I provide Pre-Marital counseling and counseling for couples surviving infidelity and repeated affairs in their relationships/marriages. My experience as a custody evaluator and family mediator led me to seek additional experience in working with high conflict couples and families in transition. I am also a Parent Facilitator.
Different theoretical approaches are utilized and spiritual integration is provided with evidence based theories where appropriate. My style is to meet the client where they are in a compassionate and non-judgmental manner. I am bilingual; English/Spanish.
