Chad J Scoggins, M.A., LPC-Intern
Chad is a Licensed Professional Counselor Intern working under the supervision of Scott Floyd, Ph.D., LPC-S, LMFT. Chad obtained his Master’s Degree in Professional Counseling from Dallas Baptist University and his Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Psychology from Dallas Christian College.
Chad believes firmly that the core of people’s struggles come from their beliefs about themselves, others, God, and the world around them. Often he won’t take the presenting issue at face value, but rather he seeks to find the core of the problem through techniques developed through empirical research, such as those found in Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Gestalt Therapy.
Chad also believes that as a therapist, he acts as an instructor and guide. He knows people are already equipped with the tools they need to solve the problem and that, as an instructor, his role is to teach his clients how to use the tools for themselves. As a guide he moves them in the direction of mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing.
Lastly, he enjoys helping anybody who comes through the doors to see him and he considers it a privilege to walk alongside people who are in need or hurting. He works well with clients who have: relational/couple issues, depression, anxieties, phobias, anger management, spiritual abuse, identity crises, suicidal/homicidal ideation, sexual dysfunction, grief, emotional repression, and low self-esteem.
