our intensive trauma therapyMindful Transformation: Redefining Your Trauma – 4-Day Therapy Intensive Workshop

Mindful Transformation: Redefining Your Trauma is a 4-day intensive therapy workshop that helps individuals understand why recovery from specific life events is difficult and how trauma has affected their daily life. The focus is on identifying how traumatic experiences change thoughts and beliefs, and how thoughts influence current feelings and behaviors. An important part of this intensive trauma therapy workshop is addressing ways of thinking that might keep individuals “stuck” and get in the way of recovery from life issues and problems.

“For the first time in my life, I felt like I could begin to resolve a traumatic event that happened 30 years ago.” – Mindful Transformation: Redefining Your Trauma participant

Did you know that people who have experienced trauma are:

  • 15 times more likely to attempt suicide
  • 4 times more likely to become an alcoholic
  • 4 times more likely to develop a sexually transmitted disease
  • 4 times more likely to inject drugs
  • 3 times more likely to use antidepressant medication
  • 3 times more likely to be absent from work
  • 3 times more likely to experience depression
  • 3 times more likely to have serious job problems
  • 2.5 times more likely to smoke
  • 2 times more likely to develop chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
  • 2 times more likely to have a serious financial problem

According to SAMHSA, in the United States, 61 percent of men and 51 percent of women report exposure to at least one lifetime traumatic event and 90 percent of clients in public behavioral health care settings have experienced trauma. If trauma goes unaddressed, people with mental illnesses and addictions will have poor physical health outcomes and ignoring trauma can hinder recovery. To ensure the best possible health outcomes, all care — in all health settings — must address trauma in a safe and sensitive way.
