Family Support

Addiction impacts both the addict and the addict’s loved ones.  It tears apart families and destroys lives, striking at the core of relationships and human intimacy. Santé Center for Healing understands that the recovery process requires healing of individuals, couples and families, through versatile therapy. When possible, every effort is made to re-establish and strengthen the patient’s bonds with their primary support system, including improved communication with appropriate disclosure and amends. When appropriate a collaborative effort is made to establish rules for the patient’s return to the home environment.  When the patient is unable to return to the home, quidelines are established for continued involvement and contact with loved ones.  Santé provides referrals to families for their support as needed. The family receives a letter, questionnaire, and a workbook upon the patient’s admission into treatment to help identify the healing process that will be extended to them.  Individualized two-day “family” intensive therapy focused on the patient’s most significant support system is also provided. A weekly multi-family group is also available to explore topics which may include: the cycle of addiction, family of origin matters, creating healthy coping skills, boundaries, and other recovery related topics experienced by family members in everyday life.  In these groups, loved ones are also provided the opportunity to connect with others that are experiencing similar circumstances. Family groups also include experiential therapy, which provides insight into behaviors through a controlled, safe environment.  Santé strives to support family members in their understanding of addiction as well as the role they will play in their loved one's recovery and their own healing.  Family members are afforded opportunities to work with individual, marriage, and family therapists as needed.
